A class that had to survive a different teacher.

Some public primary and middle schools had no science class. Others had one that lived entirely in one teacher’s head.

I wrote down the steps I had used with younger FRC members and in a small science hall: how to put a 3-D printer together, how to use it, how to build a small mechanism. Schools in Songjiang began to teach from that packet. I taught a few public lessons.

The first version was me talking well. That is not a course. Change the adult and it fell apart.

Shorter tasks, in order, that another teacher could hold. Adoption mattered less to me than the fact that I could miss a Thursday and the Thursday still happened.
